4-8 May 2011 What is Persona Art Festival?Persona Art Festival is a unique opportunity for innovative and emerging artists to exhibit their work in a major contemporary art show in London. The project, directed by A Moving Exhibition curators Antria Pelekanou and Zia Fernandez, will run from 4 to 8 May 2011 in East London and bring together contemporary artists from around the world working in a range of different media – from painting and sculpture to audio and video.Works will be selected by a judging panel consisting of three artist and lecturers and the two directors, with particular attention to artists not represented by a gallery and work produced in new or less frequently showcased media. The chosen entries will feature in a large exhibition at The Rag Factory, just off Brick Lane, while a series of talks and workshops will explore artistic practice and provide an opportunity for the public to enjoy hands-on activities. All events will be free.Awards will be presented to the artists exhibiting the best work in each category as chosen by the judging panel, while the public will determine the winner of the People's Choice Award. The initiative's aim is to foster inspiration and creativity, provide a platform for ground-breaking independent artists and stimulate discussion between practitioners, students and the general public about contemporary art.Come along and get involved!
