Personal Security & Safety Systems, Inc. (PSSI) Developed proprietary non-GPS location and tracking technology that employed advanced Radio Frequency Time Difference of Arrival techniques. PSSI's R&D Engineering team was staffed with some of the brightest and talented engineers in their fields who successfully developed this first-of-a-kind system. The System was called "Personal 911" and its primary intended use was to immediately alert 911 police dispatchers of an emergency help request and pinpoint the exact location of where the help is needed. This would be a crucial benefit in the event a person in a dire situation doesn't have access to cellular or terrestrial land lines, or doesn't have adequate time to make a call to 911. The first Personal 911 System was sold and deployed in the Town of Highland Park, Texas in 1997. The city wide Personal 911 hardware infrastructure was completed in early 1999 and was in the final software testing stages when the Company closed. The Highland Park System was a huge technological success and well received by Highland Park city officials and police department. PSSI and the Personal 911 system made national news with several prime time news stories aired on CNN and several other TV networks and major magazine articles, including Time Magazine. The Company closed in Mid-1999 when funding was exhausted and the Company was unable to secure an additional round of funding in time to keep the company operational.
