What is the PLLC? Collaborative, compassionate, creative, and committed to "uplifting the whole people" – the students, staff, and faculty of the Peter Lougheed Leadership College (PLLC) embrace a community minded approach to leadership studies. The college offers a range of learning and development opportunities for U of A students including the Lougheed College Lecture Series (open to all students and members of the public) and the two-year Certificate in Interdisciplinary Leadership Studies. Among the many topics covered by the mix of guest lecturers and U of A experts, students who connect with the college can expect to explore subjects including intersectionality, change, evidence-based-decision making, communication, and ethics.PLLC's approach to teaching leadership stems from three roots: connect, grow, lead. The Origins of PLLC The PLLC was created in honour of the legacy of Peter Lougheed. Peter Lougheed was an active student of the University of Alberta, participating in many campus events with various organizations. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1951 and a law degree in 1952, he was eventually elected the 10th Premier of Alberta in 1971. Peter Lougheed's passion for elevating his community and leading positive change inspire our program.
