Individual & Family Services - Asheville, North Carolina, United States
PFLAG Asheville is made up of LGBTQ+ individuals, their families, and allies and is part of the national network of over 400 PFLAG chapters in various cities and towns across the U.S., operating under the umbrella of PFLAG National in Washington D.C. Our mission is to provide support, advocacy and education to the Asheville community and surrounding areas. Specifically we offer support groups for parents and family members in the form of monthly meetings, host speakers and educational presentations (open to the entire community), and work together with other organizations within our city to foster and promote understanding, combat misinformation and fear, and otherwise support our LGBTQ+ community. We offer tools to parents or extended family and friends concerned about their LGBTQ+ young people and empower them by connecting them with information and resources relating to finding medical professionals, mental health care professionals, legal help, and navigating issues faced at school.
