PhantomCor is a multidisciplinary team of undergraduate students working to innovate in the cardiac phantom market. With a functional prototype that is dynamic, multimodal, and inexpensive, PhantomCor is moving towards making heart phantom technology accessible to imaging and research institutions, medical professionals, and educators. PhantomCor's phantoms have been tested to be MRI, CT, and ultrasound imaging compatible, and their customizable 3D-printed design allows various cardiac afflictions or abnormalities to be simulated across several imaging platforms. Moreover, with work underway for a virtual reality model of the heart, PhantomCor is quickly moving towards revolutionizing cardiac education in the classroom.PhantomCor is currently based in Champaign, IL, and works closely with entrepreneurship resources provided by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Having placed 3rd at UIUC's flagship entrepreneurship competition, the 2017 Cozad New Venture Competition, PhantomCor has evolved from a student design team started in 2015 to a start-up on its way towards manufacturing its phantom products. PhantomCor has also presented alongside the UIUC Department of Bioengineering at the 2016 and 2017 Biomedical Engineering Society National Conferences, and was recognized at the latter conference with an oral presentation given by our faculty mentor, Dr. Wawrzyniec Dobrucki.
