Social Services - N/A, PA, US
The mission of the Phoenixville Area Time Bank is to provide and foster an effective local service exchange system through which participants have their needs met and their personal abilities valued by using hours as currency; the ultimate goal is the building of a strong, responsive, and connected community.Founded in 2004 as part of the Time Banks USA initiative, the Phoenixville Area Time Bank has ~200 members with many different talents and skills. Our members have many things in common - values, commitment, generosity, curiosity, and neighborly concern for others, to name a few. By exchanging their talents and skills, Time Bank members put their time where their values are: in the service of others and their community.Phoenixville Area Time Bank is an incorporated, not-for-profit organization. The Board of Directors comprising 2-9 members oversees programs and operations. A part-time Coordinator manages our database and responds to members needs. Committees of members implement areas critical to the life of our organization including Membership, Finance, Fundraising, and Marketing and Communications. We encourage members to volunteer for these committees, especially if they have applicable skills or experience. All offers and requests are vital to the lives of members who make them and are therefore honored by members willing to exchange their time. The Time Bank is not just about members, however. Since its inception, the Time Bank has been committed to serving the clients of other not-for-profit organizations in our community. We encourage members to volunteer with helping organizations such as Camphill Soltane, Parkhouse Nursing Home, Ann's Heart, the Phoenixville Area Refugee Initiative, Orion Communities, and Adesha Village.Ultimately, the Time Bank is about giving back as much as you are able and getting what you need to maintain a purposeful life. It's a win-win for you and everyone in our community.
