Pieco began life as Pneumatic Industrial Equipment Company in 1954, when products were sold by salesmen who called on clients with a briefcase of literature and samples. How the world works has changed so fundamentally and the sales function has become almost entirely automated-to the point where it is possible to have a 10 year supplier/client relationship without ever meeting face-to-face. The web allows for quick sourcing, just-in-time ordering, online information sharing and online payments, but in some ways it is also not ideal.
