It was shot in 24 days in the Ozark Mountains of Southern Missouri with the Red Camera. The movie was accepted into the 2010 Sundance Film Festival and won the Dramatic Grand Jury Prize in addition to The Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award. Winter's Bone was also picked up by Roadside Attractions for North American theatrical release and is now also available on DVD.
