Piloroo.com, a B2B marketplace for the hairdressing industry connecting hair professionals and hair salons. Piloroo aims to solve the global staffing and skills shortage within the hair industry, by providing flexible staffing solutions to hair-salons and introducing new demographics to the industry. We have been live in Australia for the past 12 months and have been growing month over month at a healthy pace. We are now in the process of raising our seed round so that we can continue expanding in Australia and enter the USA market. Piloroo started out as an online booking platform to help hair salons find salon staff. We initially focused on the education side of the industry, enabling salons to access the full breadth and depth of education talent available in Australia.However, things move quickly and we've discovered a huge problem in the industry - a lack of trained salon assistants. The role these staff play in the profitable and sustainable management of a salon is grossly understated. Successful salons employ salon assistants to clean, tidy, organise consumables, make coffee, greet clients and shampoo and massage. The bottom line is this: if a salon assistant doesn't handle these tasks, a stylist must. If a stylist is stacking the towels, they're not servicing clients. In this sense, a salon assistant can directly improve salon profits.Piloroo are tackling the supply shortage of skilled salon assistants in Australia by developing a salon assistant training course. With support from industry partners, we hope to nationalise the course and the flood the market with affordable assistants, so that more salons can increase profits and deliver the salon experience their clients expect.
