Food Production - , Kansas, United States
The original plant-based superfoods company. Our farm grew the first cereal grass in 1932 for the phenomenal research in books about wheatgrass, such as those by Ann Wigmore. Pines is an organic farmer producing green superfoods for the Natural Products Industry. The Pines mission is to promote organic farming, sustainable communities, and to help feed the hungry. With a legacy of sustainable farming going back to the 1930s, Pines continues to fulfill this mission. On our original farm in Lawrence, KS, we grow highest-quality wheatgrass, barley grass, alfalfa leaf, oat grass, rye, kale, and other nutrient-dense foods. We supply these as raw materials for manufacturers that create nutritional supplements and food products. We also offer a line of greens products that are sold by retailers nationwide. Our consumer products are packaged in glass jars only, reducing plastic consumption. In keeping with our mission, Pines has donated millions of servings of our cereal grasses to feeding programs worldwide. Through our Foundation, we make annual cash contributions to feeding programs and other charitable organizations. Our donations go towards feeding the poor and hungry, schools and educational programs, supporting natural resources, and improving nutrition worldwide.Pines is the original home and research facility of Cerophyl labs, founded in the 1930s. Cerophyl was founded by Dr. Charles Schnabel, known as "the father of wheatgrass." The history of wheatgrass and other green superfoods goes back more than 80 years to Dr. Schnabel and other scientists. Those pioneers operated out of the same location now used by Pines International. Pines International still uses their laboratories and many of their fields north of Lawrence, Kansas.
