PinU is a local messaging app which helps you message your friends when they are nearby. During university I was so tired of seeing comments under my photos on Facebook, asking “Are you still at X” “I live here!” “Let’s meet!” However in almost every scenario I was not there anymore and if we had the proper tools we could have met.Until now the only option was to speculatively call or text people in advance to see if they were around, which is both inconvenient and inefficient. In the smartphone era where mobile phones are our primary devices, this is impractical and broken. So I started PinU to help people easily message their friends when they’re nearby.Whenever your friends are within a 3 kilometre radius then you can instantly contact them within the app. All of this is done while still providing our users with privacy controls to determine who they are comfortable with knowing their general location.
