PixlScribes is a STEAM-based workshop designed for elementary school children in 3rd through 5th grade which uses video-games to explore concepts in science, technology, and the arts. While playing video-games will be a component of most workshop sessions, the majority of our time will be devoted to "hands on" activities, including mixed-media video-game character creation, video-game composition, and game design using MIT's "Scratch" programming language. The goal of our workshop is to challenge students' critical and creative thinking skills, stimulate their interest in computer science/art, and most importantly, have fun!
