Civic & Social Organization - Petrie Terrace, Queensland, Australia
We are a community of designers, providers & advocates who promote research, innovation and best practice in the design of healthy places for ageing. Our membership includes architects, planners, policy makers, facility operators, institutional and government agencies and researchers with a common interest in advancing the quality of the built environment for our elders. Not limited to design of retirement villages and residential care, we take a stake in the future of all our communities. Recognising that social isolation continues to evolve as one of the most harmful issues of our time, we advocate for healthy, walk-able and connected neighbourhoods with choice and variety, and access to services, at every stage of life. We're very conscious of the impact an aging population will continue to have on our cities, and the emerging issues of living longer, including mental health and dementia. Our work has three key aims· To provide a platform for progressive evidence-based design for the aged· To provide a forum for education in and debate of those ideas· To advocate for sensitive and inclusive design for the elderly everywhere We believe there's currently a disconnect in bringing together current research and models of care, with those tasked to provide those environments. Our aim is specifically to address that need. We all have a stake in how our elders will live.If you'd like to be part of the conversation, please join us!For more info contact:Ryan Lovedayryanl@fultontrotter.com.au
