Planet Hope Foundation is an initiative of Karen Duys and Paul van Wijngaarden . After many wanderings around the world, they first became acquainted with India in 1997 as backpackers. Since then, this fascinating land of extremes has not let them go and they return every year.Captivated by the harrowing poverty in which many – especially outcaste – children and their families live, Karen and Paul decided to make a difference for some of them. Initially by personally supporting projects of Indian development organizations with which they had become acquainted over the years. In order to give the support a more sustainable character, they set up the Planet Hope Netherlands foundation at the end of 2009.
