Today's technologies make it possible to perform and check agricultural processes with higher precision than ever before. However, with these new technologies R&D costs and development time increase as well, as does the need for skilled personnel to operate the new systems.Regular sampling is being replaced by continuous monitoring, like in fruit tree cultivation, where blossom counting is performed by drones, and trunk diameters are measured when a vehicle passes by.Acquired data is used to analyse causes and results of agricultural activities. At the moment, the practical use of this analysis is limited. It will take several years to collect enough data until future trends can be predicted for further optimization of agriculture.
