Platinum Group Coatings (PGC) is advancing neuromodulation therapy and biosensors with an ultra low impedance electrode material. Our patented coating process lowers the output impedance of traditional platinum iridium electrodes by 10-100X. This will enable less invasive, low power, mass produced neuromodulation devices as well as biosensors such as high density neuron recording arrays.Platinum Group Coatings was founded in 2012 to commercialize Electro-Deposited Platinum Iridium Coatings (EP-IC) technology. Based in Pasadena, CA, PGC's mission is to provide EP-IC technology goods and services to those interested in developing next-generation biomedical microelectronics. PGC aims to make the EP-IC electrode material the industry standard for high-performance biomedical sensor-stimulator applications. PGC was awarded its first Phase-I SBIR grant from the NIH's National Institute for Neurological Disease and Stroke in 2014 to evaluate the EP-IC technology for DBS applications. Successful completion of this program led to award of a 2015 Phase-II program to continue technology development.
