Play On! Details
Founded by Scott Hill in 2002, and title sponsored by the CBC's Hockey Night in Canada since 2007, Play On! is the world's largest street hockey event series and outdoor hockey festival. The events encourage and provide opportunity for individuals of all age, circumstance, and gender to engage in "Play" and celebrate sport in its purest form. The program currently operates in twenty one cities across Canada with seventeen more cities having requested the event. It culminates in a national championship, called the Redwood Cup. The program involved over 6,000 teams, over 42,000 players, more than 2,300 volunteers, and more than 950 trained officials this past season. It is growing at a double digit growth rate annually and is projected to double in size again within the next 5 seasons.
