PlayersNet Details
An independent voluntary support service for football players, parents, clubs, staff and volunteers that is designed to manage a whistle blowing (receiving disclosures) and mentor/counselling service for those in both grassroots and the professional game. It will provide a service that has at its centre the values of:• integrity (highest levels of professionalism)• impartiality (fairness and objectivity) through its dealings with players, parents, clubs, keystakeholders and members of the public• transparency through open and honest interactions, building trust and respecting confidentialityPlayersNet has a responsibility to act in the best interests of all in the grassroots and professional game. It is primarily dedicated to work in the interests of players/parents, engaging and listening to their needs and concerns. If supported, PlayersNet will mirror the suggestions for a Sports Ombudsman or Sports Duty of Care Quality Commission as discussed in the Duty of Care Review led by Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson.No such independent organisation is presently in operation that receives disclosures and listens to the needs of players and parents, which can manage symptoms, causes, and generate solutions via swift intervention and communication. It is envisaged by PlayersNet that can play a significant role in lessening the burden on the FA and the games partner organisations assisting their desire to raise the standards in the game by providing a complementary service through independence.
