At Playfair's we are passionate about three things when it comes to food; flavour, origin and seasonality. It's that simple. Our Head Chef, Duncan McLachlan sources ingredients from carefully selected suppliers with all our dishes prepared in house (we are very proud of our bread!). Our a la carte menu features a wide selection of locally sourced steaks and seafood cooked on our chargrill as well as some creative and classic dishes for those that fancy ‘something different' – quite literally! And you can't leave without trying one of our decadent desserts! We even have a menu for our special wee guests who can even choose from a freshly prepared children's menu. Well known in St Andrews for serving up some of the best food in town, Playfair's Restaurant and Steakhouse has now had this confirmed by the prestigious AA Rosette scheme when we were awarded with a Rosette for culinary excellence in early 2015 and has had this continued into 2016. In addition to this, we have been awarded with the Visit Scotland ‘Taste Our Best' award which is given to restaurants that are dedicated to using the best of Scottish produce and have a minimum of 40% of dishes which are of Scottish origin. If the Scottish weather permits, our two south facing terraces are the perfect sun trap to enjoy a summer lunch with friends and family or to relax with some pre-dinner drinks.
