The history of Plomari Distillery Isidoros Arvanitis begins in 1894 when its founder, Isidoros Arvanitis, created the recipe of Ouzo of Plomari, envisioning an Ouzo that would stand out in Greece and around the world. Over a century later, the company has kept his vision alive and remains a 100% Greek family company with a world-class distillery in Plomari, on the Greek island of Lesvos, a protected designation of origin for ouzo. A high quality product, Ouzo of Plomari is the best-selling ouzo in Greece. The production of ouzo at Plomari Distillery Isidoros Arvanitis combines traditional distillation in small copper alembics with the most modern equipment in bottling, packaging, and storage. The strict quality procedures followed are certified by the Quality Assurance Certificate, ISO 22000: 2005 by TÜV Austria Hellas for the application of the HACCP food safety system.Besides its dominant presence in Greece, Ouzo of Plomari has achieved success in various international markets. As a result of quality, care, careful planning, and impactful marketing - plus, an extensive distribution network - Ouzo of Plomari is exported to more than 35 countries worldwide, including Germany, Australia, Canada, Israel, and the United States. These exports today constitute 60% of total production volume.
