Nonprofit Organization Management - Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, United States
Injured and orphaned wildlife find help at our clinic. The goal is to have each patient heal and be returned to the wild. We treat native mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians, including Black Bears. We are the only rehabilitation center in Pennsylvania permitted to raise orphaned bear cubs.Live animal programs are offered to the public--schools, festivals, campgrounds, state parks, etc. Most of our ambassador animals were treated, but couldn't be returned to the wild due to permanent injuries. The education programs illustrate why injured and orphaned wildlife need to be treated by trained professionals. This prevents individuals from being exposed to diseases and parasites, and the animals don't get attached to people. As an intern a person, 18 years and over, can gain hands-on experience in wildlife care and rehabilitation. Animal husbandry, nutritional requirements, and medical care for each species fill an interns days and evenings. Our 501(c)3 nonprofit organization depends on donation and volunteers. We are NOT a government facility.
