What is Poder Común?Launched in 2020, Poder Común is a growing program/community, currently led by four young Latinx women. This program aims to provide a space to young people who identify with the Latinx community and / or are bilingual. We are a platform that supplies community, education, and leadership opportunities to those who are interested in civic engagement and to end Latinx voter suppression in our country. How?Community is a fundamental part of Poder Común. We work in teams to mobilize and inform our community. We depend on the support of connections made with partner organizations in other states. Partners play a big role in how Poder mobilizes voters, provides voting information, and access, as well as assists in campaigns across the United States. In the future there will be traveling to knock on doors, there will be educational aspects of the work and there will be opportunities for community building to create a force to combat voter suppression of the Latinx community. Our Mission StatementPoder Común provides opportunities for individuals of all generations to come together in building community, learning initiatives, and advocacy for the voting rights of the largest non-white voting population in the U.S, the Latinx community.
