Practice areas include landscape design, planning, and management; food system diversification; climate change adaptation; and economic and community development with specific attention to the effects and presence of structural inequality and community conflict.What does the word "poiesis" mean?Poiesis is defined as creation according to a process that allows for change, while techne is creation according to an ideal plan. In other words, poiesis is the process and techne is the act of physically constructing. While both aspects of design are important, process (poiesis) is often overlooked in a world focused on capitalist efficiency, hierarchies, and constant expansion. We are Poiesis because it speaks to the values of inclusion, creativity, and right order.
