Politeknik Purbaya is a private three-years vocational college located in Kabupaten Tegal, Central Java, Indonesia. Its operating license is granted by decree of the Ministry of National Education number 208/D/O/2002, September 23, 2002. Currently, the college has two study programs, three-years-diploma in mechanical engineering, and three-years diploma in informatics. Politeknik Purbaya is the first Indonesian higher education Institution that uses free/open-source licensed software thoroughly in its all software-based academic process (i.e. teaching, laboratory). The vision of Politeknik Purbaya is to become an excellent vocational college, a pride of Tegal's people, and internationally standardized, under the principle of the social justice for all of the people of Indonesia. The mission of Politeknik Purbaya are: 1. to cultivate and develop a tradition of excellence in teaching, research, and community services. 2. to take an active, proportional, and collaborative role in addressing national issues. 3. to encourage the nation's freedom in information technology by using, advocating, and developing free/open-source licensed software. 4. to decrease tuition-fee percentage in the budgeting by gathering funds from research, community services, and other legitimate activities.
