We are a not for profit organisation founded in April 2009, by Sue Luminati. With the help of a talented and dynamic steering group we aim to showcase a Literary Festival in Poole, Dorset from 29th to 31st October 2010. Our aim is to promote Poole as a cultural destination, and establish an annual festival that becomes a highlight in the UK literary calendar. Michael Morpurgo is our patron and we have some inspiring, high profile writers already on board. We are collaborating with the main agencies in Poole, and are working in partnership with Bournemouth University to establish a unique Festival Prize for ‘New Media Writing'. We are also collaborating with the university to create a website that will reflect our ‘new media' theme' and allow festival goers the opportunity to download podcasts, engage in digital creative writing projects and have access to a host of social networking possibilities. As well as writers, we will have workshops, visual artists with a literary theme, music and lots of interactive threads and themes throughout the Festival venues. We are beginning to establish contacts with writers to create commissioned work for the Festival as well as a resident Poet to capture the Festival's spirit as it evolves.
