POPLab is an ongoing experiment. What if you take poetry and mix it with theater? Or film? Or photography? POPLab is about making on-page poetry come alive, taking the written word and bringing it to an audience, mixing it with other art forms and seeing what happens. POPLab strives to combine written poetry with performance, film and other art mediums to promote poetry to a wider audience. Our Mission: To educate youth and underserved communities about poets and poetry To entertain and engage people with poetry To inspire and encourage people to read more poetry and express themselves through creative writing To sponsor poets, actors and artists financially To foster collaboration between poets and other artists and performers To support and grow a community surrounding poetry To bring enrichment and foster vitality to poor and working class neighborhoods through poetry-related events and activities
