WELCOME TO POSTHOF BACHARACH'Throughout Europe, the postal horn is the symbol of the postal service. In olden days, when the postman blew this, traffic stopped and the mail sped through. This post station dates from 1724, when stagecoaches ran from Cologne to Frankfurt and would change horses here, Pony Express-style', Rick Steves (Best of Germany).The building hosted the local post office, which served the medieval town of Bacharach for 200 years. The courtyard was once a carriage house and inn that accommodated Bacharach's VIP visitors, including the Emperor of Austria, the Tsars of Russia, the Prussian prince, Prince Metternich, Victor Hugo and many other prominent and famous guests from the worlds of politics, art, culture and economics. Today, the historic building (anno 1593) is home to the recommended Posthof Bacharach restaurant, a destination for food lovers of local specialities and wine connoisseurs alike: our renowned restaurant and tavern offer something to suit all tastes. WE MAKE IT AN EVENT TO REMEMBERBoasting an enviable central location with over 800 sq. meters of flexible and historic space for up to 450 guests (combined) and 6 historic venues, including taverns, patios, a courtyard and ballroom - the Posthof Bacharach is one of the most romantic venues in the heart of the Middle Rhine.
