Food & Beverages - Bradford, England, United Kingdom
From humble beginnings as a small deli in Bradford less than 25 years ago, Prashad has become a nationally recognised brand and leader on the Yorkshire foodie scene. Now based in a 60-70 cover restaurant in Drighlington in the heart of West Yorkshire, we are a ‘destination' restaurant with a best-selling cookbook, a sell-out series of cooking courses and a whole host of regional, national and international awards to our name. In the last 12 months alone we have been awarded the Morrisons Magazine Great Grub Award 2013, the Yorkshire Life Chef of the Year 2013 (which Minal and Kaushy won jointly), the Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand 2014, and the Yorkshire Evening Post Oliver Awards Best Indian Restaurant 2014We ‘shot to fame' after being runners up on Ramsay's Best Restaurant 2010 but have never relied on that initial exposure to propel the business forward. We've kept our roots firmly in Yorkshire as a one-off, unique family business with big ambitions, not to become a national chain, but to be the best in the UK at what we do and eventually gain Michelin Star status. Our best-selling cookbook has achieved success way beyond expectations. The Book People tell us it's the fast-selling book by a debut author they have had for 25 years and in the lead up to Christmas it topped the Amazon chart for Indian cookbooks above Madhur Jaffrey's Curry Nation which was linked to a TV programme on at the time.Charitable and community links have always been incredibly important to us and we sponsor various local sports teams and events, as well as support local charities near our new home and back in Bradford where the Patel family still lives. Partnerships with the likes of The Sparrow Bier Café in Bradford and other like-minded businesses are also key to our success.
