PRESENT NOW is a national non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to supporting babies, children and teens entering and living in transitional domestic violence shelters. PRESENT NOW was founded in 2013 by Erica Fisher and Melanie Neumann, both devoted mothers residing in Los Angeles, who are deeply committed to helping young children in need.Each year, nearly 4 million women are battered by a significant other. In 70% of the families where spousal abuse occurs, the children are also abused (National Coalition Against Domestic Violence). Those who are ready to seek help may enter a crisis or transitional shelter. In most cases the mother and children leave their home in duress, leaving all of their belongings behind. The hope is that once these mothers have escaped the cycle of violence, they will get the social, economic and psychological assistance they need to begin a new life for themselves and their children.PRESENT NOW is committed to helping these "sheltered children" find peace and joy while their mothers heal.
