BackgroundPrince Albert Multicultural Council (PAMC ) was established in 1963. In 1984, with a growing population in Prince Albert, the Council began expanding its services to supporting refugee and immigrant newcomers settling in Prince Albert and surrounding area, while continuing to promote and develop multicultural and anti-racism activities.Mission Statement"The Prince Albert Multicultural Council exists to create an awareness, understanding, appreciation, respect, and acceptance of the various cultures that compose Canada by means of public relations, personal interaction, festivals and workshops""We are also a Refugee and Immigrant serving agency which assists newcomers to adapt and fit comfortably into Canadian society" .Settlement Support ServicesWe offer assistance and advice to newcomers adjusting to life in Canada. This is done through informal counseling and referrals, in order to connect people to the resources available in the community of Prince Albert and area. Community ConsultationsThe PAMC and its staff are also available to individuals, organizations, and the community at large, for consultations and information about multiculturalism, and immigration issues.
