Performing Arts - Princeton, New Jersey, United States
Roaring 20 is Princeton's premier co-ed a cappella group, dedicated to performing a dynamic repertoire with a uniquely resonant sound. Our members are students with a wide range of academic and extracurricular interests who come together to make good music and lifelong friends.Auditions are held for all interested freshmen and sophomores twice a year, in the fall and spring. If you're interested in auditioning for R20, please visit our website.OUR HISTORYRoaring 20 was founded in 1983 as an all-male, jazz-centric group called "The Cat's Meow". Our repertoire has since evolved to include a wider range of genres, though jazz music still comprises a notable portion. Co-ed since the spring of 1984, the group is entirely student-run. Members run rehearsals, arrange music, plan tours, and produce albums. Our dynamic repertoire ranges from jazz classics to current top 40 hits: Gershwin, Gaga, and everything in between. We hold four 90 minute rehearsals weekly, as well as a weekly sectional meeting. Rehearsals take place in our room, 071 Bloomberg Hall. We sing at bi-weekly archsings on campus, perform at local events, host a biennial "Jam" concert, and tour both domestically and abroad four times per year. Recent tour destinations include Germany, Palm Beach, Toronto, the Dominican Republic, Paris, Italy, and Los Angeles. Additionally, we've had the honor of performing at venues such as ‘The Price is Right' and the Kennedy Center. We look forward to continuing our longstanding tradition of making music and memories. For general inquiries about the group, e-mail us at princetonroaring20@gmail.com.
