We are an institution rooted in the deepest humanism, whose missions are human rights reporting, legal action and pro-democracy advocacy.Among the organizations that adopt our reports and explicitly refer to us are the European Parliament, the United States Congress, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and many other organizations, governments and institutions whose scope of work covers human rights in Cuba, and media outlets such as ABC, Le Monde, Le Point, Le Figaro, New York Times or Washington Post, among hundreds of newspapers and publications.Prisoners Defenders works along different lines:- Creation of lists of political prisoners and prisoners of conscience.- Legal reports from prisoners on these lists.- Submission of information and cases to international human rights support bodies.- Democratic quality studies- Direct legal action (complaints, criminal complaints) and legal defense of political prisoners, prisoners of conscience and human rights violations in many different fields (labor, cultural, human rights defenders, children's rights, religions amongst others).- Direct legal action (lawsuits, criminal complaints) on crimes against humanity in all competent courts.- Country situation reports- Scientific-technical reports that help understand consequences of human rights violations, and/or help prove them beyond doubt.Prisoners Defenders is based in Madrid, Spain, and is a non-profit, non-governmental organization registered in the Spanish National Associations Registry. Our headquarters are in Madrid. We also operate in our local international branches, Prisoners Defenders "sections".
