Project Backpack is a non-profit tax exempt organization dedicated to supplying needy families with back-to-school supplies. Our mission is to show the love of Christ in Garland County by relieving the burden single parents and grandparents experience when they prepare their children for back-to-school.Over the last nine years, Project Backpack has given away over 6,000 backpacks. Last year's outreach supplied over 1,000 backpacks to needy families throughout Garland County. This year, Project Backpack is partnering with the Hot Springs School District, the City of Hot Springs and other communities of faith to host a "Back to School Bash" on August 7 at a central location to be announced soon. There are over 3,700 students in the Hot Springs School District, so your help is greatly needed. Our goal is to provide backpacks and school supplies to all students from HSSD who need assistance as well as link them to many other services available to them within our community and school. Project Backpack will continue to provide supplies for pre-registered children throughout grades Kindergarten through 12th grade in every Garland County school district at River of Life Church on August 7, 2009.
