Hospital & Health Care - San Francisco, California, United States
Project Kilimanjaro is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that works to promote the health and wellness of women and children internationally. Using an approach consistent with preventative medicine, we work with underserved communities in India and Tanzania by engaging in both educational and medical outreach with heavy emphasis on sustainable community development through global cooperation and cultural understanding. Based out of San Francisco, CA, we work with grassroots organizations and corporations to improve local industry and healthcare accessibility. Through our research into women's health and pilot programming, we have developed a structured methodology of ethical program intervention that uses a co-design and iterative process with community members to target specific healthcare disparities that women in each community face. Giving full ownership of health-tech development to women in the community, we supplant technology with culturally-sensitive educational courses to increase efficacy of the intervention and teach community workers evaluation and monitoring methods to continue to increase program impact. Our projects include Infectious Disease Prevention, Menstrual Health Management, and WASH - all heavily interconnected with the goal of improving living standards of women and decreasing mortality rates for preventable diseases.
