Project Lighthouse GU replaces the confusion, misinformation, and stigma surrounding mental health with knowledge and support. It is an anonymous online chat service which will enable Georgetown students to talk to their peers about any issue – from class-related stress and sleep problems to thoughts of self harm. The Peer Supporters are trained in active listening and educated in campus resources and pathways to access care. Project Lighthouse GU has worked with the Georgetown Counseling And Psychiatric Services (CAPS), the office of the Assistant Vice President for Student Health and Health Education Services in developing their service and will provide an easy-to-access resource for Hoyas to anonymously voice their concerns to a sympathetic ear, and discuss and explain resources that could help.
