Project SKAR Details
Project SKAR is an initiative that was started by four global students based out of Mumbai. We realised how hard our healthcare workers and police force were working to keep us safe from Covid-19 and thought that it was important that they were staying safe as well. Our vision is to decrease the impact that's caused by Covid-19. We aim to tackle this problem at grassroots level by providing protective gear (face shields/ masks) to frontline workers, who risk their lives every day so that we can stay safe at our homes. While our goal is to primarily provide protective gear to healthcare workers and the police force, we have also donated face shields to small shop owners, delivery boys & many front-line Corona fighters. These face-Shields act as barrier to acutely-expelled aerosols of body fluid which helps minimise the risk of contracting this infection & allows them to focus on their duty.We also donate masks to communities living in slums & high density areas, as the filters block Corona virus from transmitting. These are environment friendly and can be washed over 30 times and used for over a month. Project Skar has already distributed over 15,000 face shields and 5000 masks and has initiated distribution in Delhi, Noida, Bangalore, Gurgaon, Baroda and Daman! Our drive has delivered beyond expectation and the demand has surpassed supply beyond expectations and we have received an amazing amount of love and support from the media as well as on our social platforms.
