Promising Youth Alliance ("PYA") is a first of its kinds collaborative enterprise among three of the nation's most successful providers of youth development services: Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Club of Greater Dallas, and Phoenix House. Based on the results of a McKinsey study, we successfully piloted an integrated program and service offering that serves the whole child cost-effectively with the best-in-class services offered by each partner. During the fall of 2011, by working with the Dallas Housing Authority, PYA is expected launch its first new site at the Roseland Community Center.The Problem We Are SolvingToo many promising youth without positive role models, guidance, or supervision. In Dallas alone we have over 100,000 kids that are considered at risk. Benefit of participants in after-school programs:· 3 times less likely to skip school· 20%-50% less likely to drop out of school· their math scores rise by 12-20%· 3 times less likely to use drugs· 30% less likely to commit crime A problem for the community and society· Juvenile crime skyrockets after 3:00 p.m.· If just 25% of current DISD students improve educationby one level = 35% increase ($350 million) increase in their combined adult income insuring our communitybenefits from a more productive citizenship
