Founded in 2013 by actors Chye-Ling Huang and James Roque as a reaction to the lack of non-stereotyped Asian stories in mainstream theatre and film, PAT continues to create exciting new works that challenge the narrative of Asian stereotypes in New Zealand and beyond.Our goal is simple: with every performance, gathering, post or korero (talk), we chip away at stereotypes and encourage other Asian artists to be visible, to create work that reflects their original and specific voice without fear of judgement - from reflective cultural journeys, to offbeat comedy, to non-verbal performance art.We support and develop the work and skills of Asian practitioners across all roles; writers, actors, directors, producers, designers, etc. and create work and opportunities within the theatre and film industry specifically for Asian practitioners. This includes producing plays, events and mentorship programmes. Our works are exciting, innovative - and most of all, entertaining. We welcome collaboration - and welcome you to come along and enjoy the show.
