Psychotherapynz is a psychotherapy partnership based in Auckland and Taranaki.Crispin Balfour and Lynne Holdem have been working alongside each other for twenty years. They are both experienced psychotherapists working in general practice: Lynne is based in New Plymouth and Crispin is based in Auckland. They meet regularly to discuss their practice and, whilst they both originally trained in and taught psychosynthesis, they share a keen interest in contemporary psychoanalytic thought.Originally from Taranaki, Lynne works with people experiencing depression, anxiety, effects of trauma and abuse, and also people wanting to feel more purpose and meaning in their lives. She is also chairperson of the Taranaki branch of Supporting Families in Mental Illness and has been running a pilot programme for children of parents with a mental illness or addiction (COPMIA). She trained in Circle of Security and endeavours to include an attachment focus into the parent group she runs in tandem with the children's COPMIA group.Originally from the UK, although he has roots in the South Island, Crispin works with you as a person no matter what your symptoms or diagnosis. He is interested in the way the unconscious charts the course of our lives despite our best intentions! He likes to work long term and believes that good things takes time. He has been conducting a psychotherapy group since 2007 which allows him to offer psychotherapy to people who would not ordinarily be able to afford it. He also works online.Crispin and Lynne share an interest in literature, social innovation and spirituality.
