PT North Sumatera Hydro Energy is, at present, the largest IPP (Independent Power Producer) Hydropower Plant in Indonesia which is still on progress of constructing. Located in Tapanuli Selatan, North Sumatera, PT North Sumatera Hydro Energy will be producing up to 510 MW of hydroelectricity through PLTA Batangtoru. The demand of electricity spreading all over the cities in Indonesia has taken PT North Sumatera Hydro Energy to get involved in supporting the Government of Indonesia in succeeding the target of 35,000 MW of electricity spreading all over Indonesia.The construction works of PLTA Batangtoru 510 MW is highly controlled and supervised by EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) standards following the IFC (International Finance Corporation) guidance which is one of the highest Environmental, Health and Social standards in the world.The project is taking advantage of the stable water discharge of Batang Toru River and steep topographical conditions although the inundated area is relatively small.
