Fast forward several generations, and their focus has widened to encompass the needs of complex communities that now inhabit those very same places.Our growing human population brings new challenges. Communities and their representatives are facing an increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous ("VUCA") future. Are local government leaders equipped to navigate such significant transitions? Ptok Consulting was about local government leadership. We provided cutting-edge information, tools and practices. Gregor (Greg) Ptok, Founder and Managing Director of Ptok Consulting, had been working with councils between 2008 and 2021. Gregor's overriding concern is the well-being of people - community members, councillors, executives, leaders at all levels, and staff. He takes a long view of history and wants to leave the world a better place for the generations who will come after us. He believes that in so doing, it will also make the world a better place for all of us living now. We saw our greatest contribution to the local government sector - aside from the continuity we provided in the benchmarking space - in the introduction of cutting-edge leadership development information, tools and practices. Why? Because we wanted to see people and communities touched by councils thrive. Now and for many generations to come. And because 'a fish rots from the head down'. Ptok Consulting ceased trading in 2021.
