Public Policy and Opinion Cell is a non-political cell based in IIT Kanpur that brings global events into a valuable perspective. We explore current stories in international news, economics, finance and geopolitics by examining the facts and providing historical context. We cover a range of political, philosophical, economic and historical topics.1) The Students' Opinion Society is the school's first student-run public policy think tank. The Policy Society is established with the aim of engaging students with the challenges of policy-making in contemporary society by fostering, creating and scrutinising potential policy solutions to a diverse range of important societal issues. The society will do this by inviting our members to join our selection of different 'Policy Committees' where students will focus on particular issues. Our committees are formed based on the interests of our members, who in each committee will work together to create policy recommendations for their chosen issue. In the end, each committee will publish its Policy Report, showcasing and detailing the work carried out by the committee members.The Policy Society is a true expression of the university's founding values, those being to help better the society in which we live, uniting the skills and approaches developed by the academic curriculum with real-world application. The society offers all students an opportunity to more directly make their voices and ideas heard, beyond the much narrower academic student community.2) Our aim is providing our members with first-class exposure to world leaders, policymakers, historians and the frontier of Economics for years.Prominent Personalities such as Ambassadors of foreign countries to India, Former Chief Economic Advisors, Former Secretaries have attended and spoke in our events in the past.
