PCEMS serves to coordinate, develop, improve, and maintain a comprehensive and dynamic emergency medical service system on campus to prevent and reduce premature death, disability, and injury whereas certified students respond to emergencies alongside University Police in accordance to the New York State Department of Health, The Bureau of Emergency Medical Services as well as the standards outlined in the NYS BLS-FR codes and this document; to act as a response team prior to the arrival of Harrison EMS or a service of such nature. Purchase College EMS will ensure prompt, effective, and unimpeded service to all residents and visitors of the commonwealth.Our mission is to educate, inform, and train students, faculty, and staff in emergency medical practices, including but not limited to; pre-hospital care, CPR/AED, first aid, drug and alcohol safety, and disaster readiness; and to promote fire prevention, safety awareness and goodwill in the Purchase Community through workshops headed by both internal service coordinators and instructors from local agencies, organizations or corps.
