Beauty Products - Lake Placid, NY, US
Marcy Miller was raised in the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York. Her childhood was full of adventure and inspiration, with summers on Lake Placid and winters in the mountains. The expansive 6-million-acre state park was more than a playground to Marcy and her family. They were passionate about its stunning beauty and precious natural resources; and they embraced the rustic-elegant aesthetic that can be traced back to the Great Camps of the Gilded Age.Marcy was especially intrigued by the power of natural scents: the aromatic forests encompassed the lakes and ascended the mountains. Marcy's parents had a small herb shop, where she would mix plants together to make her own perfume. She says fragrance marks arrivals and prolongs departures. It evokes emotions and memories. As an adult, Marcy studied massage therapy, chemical-free cosmetics and essential oils. She opened a spa with her mother and sister. All nature-based and inspired by the Adirondacks, she made body butters and sugar scrubs to use in their services. It was in the spa that she started crafting her signature lotions and oils. The ingredient base was water distilled from Lake Placid. Her first product was a lotion made from balsam, clementine, lavender, bergamot, and lemon. It was a story told through scent: of mountain hikes with clementine and granola snacks her mother packed for her. More scent stories followed, and Pure Placid was born."Pure Placid is a philosophy—a way of life—and represents the place I love. It's the purity of the highest peaks and tranquility of the deepest lakes. It's respecting the interdependence between people and nature, and celebrating it without compromise. My products come with a blue ribbon—it's a gift from the Adirondacks. My dream is to share it with you."
