Welcome to the Purple Initiative.Our aim – To establish a web based nationwide network of registered Health and Social Care Professionals, who have either experienced military life or are willing to learn about its impact on both families and individuals.Our purpose – To provide a directory of practitioners, which service and ex-service families can access in their locality.As practitioners with strong connections to the armed forces, we have been aware for some time of the difficulties in making the link between specialist help and those who need it (including individuals and families). As well as our own anecdotal experience, we have looked at the research and determined that Purple Initiative will be an effective way of closing the gap.By establishing a web-based, nationwide network of HCPC registered Health & Social Care Professionals, who have experience of military life or an interest in learning about it's impact, Purple Initiative will:Provide early intervention to members of the Armed Forces Community (serving, veterans, reservists & their families).Provide specialist support to external organisations who employ members of the armed forces community, ie fire brigade, ambulance service, police forces, NHS trusts etcOffer a referral mechanism for those seeking specialist support for a member or family member of the armed forces community ie citizens advice, GPs, police forces (for those in custody), healthcare trusts, housing associations, local authorities, other charities (including military charities)Provide a holistic approach to those in need ie consider the financial, practical, physical and emotional needs of the entire familyProvide a local service to local familiesProvide peer to peer supportOffer consultation via newsletter, members area and directory, offer training arrange conferences…..
