Research - Palo Alto, California, United States
QuakeFinder is a Humanitarian Research & Development project based in Palo Alto, California. The goal of the project is to mature a technology to forecast large earthquakes providing days-to-weeks of advance notice – and save lives. Since 2005, the QuakeFinder team has deployed and operated 170 specialized remote sensors in 6 earthquake-prone countries, collecting precursory electromagnetic (EM) data ahead of seismic events. Having amassed 80TB of data consisting of over 1000 earthquakes, in 2017 QuakeFinder used this database to demonstrate statistical correlation of pre-earthquake EM signals to the earthquakes. QuakeFinder is now furthering the development by building algorithms to characterize these pre-earthquake signals so we can begin operational forecasting. We are applying signal processing techniques and Machine Learning algorithms to uncover the precursory signals and patterns ahead of quakes. QuakeFinder is a privately-funded effort sponsored by our parent company: Stellar Solutions, Inc. (SSI).We are actively looking for strategic partners to assist the effort both technically and financially. If interested, please reach out! Dan Coughlin, Director, dcoughlin@quakefinder.com
