Civic & Social Organization - Chicago, Illinois, United States
Only 1 in 7 U.S. competitive chess players are female. At Queens United Chess, we aim to bridge the gender divide and empower female high school leaders to increase the accessibility of chess. We offer free introductory chess instruction in underserved schools as well as weekly Girl Power meetings, and we will be launching a youth gender-diversity council. In partnership with the Chicago Public Schools Academic Chess Program, one of the largest local chess organizations, we foster an inclusive environment for all students and work to expand the chess community.
