Architecture & Planning - Las Cruces, New Mexico, United States
Quercus is a southwestern environmental design practice founded in 1995 in Albuquerque, now based in Las Cruces. We help our region capitalize on its stunning ecology, by solving typical issues of site usage, drainage, and climate, by turning those into assets and irresistible spaces.Such habitats enhance commerce, public interactions, and private retreats, by celebrating yet conserving scarce natural resources. Quercus projects are often considered textural and sensitive to their geography. With plants crucial to a design's sense of place, native species can reinforce their ecoregion more than other design elements. Also crucial, hardscape and passive water harvesting are integrated into work for spatial definition and to sustain habitat. As a solo practice, Quercus works individually or as part of a project team, restoring broad to intimate scales back to their ecoregion; wildness within structure, pattern within process.
