A direct producer-to-consumer, state certified agricultural event in Quincy, Massachusetts. One of the oldest farmers markets in the Commonwealth it was founded in 1982. The foundation of the market are its two farmers which have been there since the beginning both from within 85 miles. There is a hydroponic grower of heirloom varieties. Every year over one hundred families from Quincy pay the farmer in early spring for all their vegetables the rest of the year. It is a risk sharing scheme and a long-standing urban-rural partnership. It also a bakers market - four vendors, no duplicate products. Rainbow Alliance Certified Coffee owned by a family in Dedham, and roasts it locally is a new addition. This market is being reinvented as "a 21st Century Agora." - The market has hosted 80 free live music performances in the first two years of this initiative. - The center of the market is transformed into a differently themed performance space each week. - Public art, fine art, interactive art, computer art continously changes over. - Kids learn digital storytelling. - Website updated weekly.
