Some of the poorest people in the world are the tribal indigenous communities. Stuck in a vicious cycle of extreme poverty, helplessness and deprivation - the problems they face are multi layered and intertwined.Raah is on a vision to make a better life for the tribal communities of Maharashtra. By taking a bottom approach, Raah has through multiple iterations created an integrated model of change that includes the following: * Taking a nature based approach to water security which involves building/ rejuvenating existing water sources to ensure year round water availability in the villages. ironically this is one of the highest rainfall areas in Maharashtra. *Supporting tribal farmers to grow climate resilient sustainable crops to earn a decent income and lead a life of dignity without having to migrate. * Mentoring women to start micro businesses and thereby confidently change the course of their lives. * Restore ecology and biodiversity of the area through afforestation and growing food forests. * Revive tribal art and put it back in the hands of the artisans by providing them with market access. * Health : Improved health through better nutrition and awareness of locally available resources and using them judiciously in daily diets. Our model is "change without charity" and our communities play an important part in all the projects conceived, planned and implemented by us.
